Highlands Emergency Council

Highlands, NC

The Highlands Emergency Council has been serving families in the Highlands area since 1982. They started off in the Highlands Library, but in 1982, volunteers built the building on Poplar Street that still exists today. The center has been run by volunteers since then.  They are proud to be able to support and help our neighbors in Highlands and the surrounding areas. A vast majority of these people needing help are employed, but still need help in their day to day living. They rely on gracious donations from churches such as CBC as well as generosity from the surrounding community. Their focus is on helping low-income residents, senior citizens, young families, single-parent families, and disaster victims of any age in times through times of adversity.
